Even when the young man was hugging the television, I suspected that every time I saw Will E there was something strange. By the moment he realized that there was no hard ground below. Somehow, even then, I thought it should be gravity. It works whether anyone knows about it or not. I came up with this example, although it doesn’t refer to superheroes, and in fact it is a television cartoon image of a comic, because it represents something that is the main subject of my thinking about teaching physics: a few things more memorable than facing your own misconceptions. In fact, those of us who study “physical education” are a living counselor who directly encourages students that anyone can expect their own misconceptions to really internalize what you are teaching them. I can’t, I know it’s not true, but I know you want to understand popular misconceptions and then use them. This is a good place where we get our cultural perspective completely agree! I don’t want you to think that I mentioned comics and popular misconceptions in the same paragraph because I want to insult first. Far from there! In fact, comics sometimes get it right and as James Cacalios describes it.
