::::: Book Review :::::
Putul Nacher Itikatha is Manik Bandyopadhyay’s third novel and fourth printed book. The novel was published continuously in Bharatvarsha from Poush in 1341 to Agrahayan in 1342. It was subsequently published in book form in 1936. In the rural setting, ‘Puppet Dance Itikatha’ presents the hypocrisy, complexity, and incomprehensibility of the person. Unlike contemporary narrative, the main premise of the novel is the centralization of society, mainly creating concerns about people living in society, who are polluting society by their ambiguity and mental darkness, Manik has exposed his character.
The central character of the novel is the village doctor of Shashi. He has no faith in God. Deep in the village, Shashi, Shashir’s father, Kusum, and other characters form a complex social relationship in the existing story and context. Written on the basis of love, forgetfulness, envy and mutual sympathy in a fallen society, this novel is one of the best resources of Bengali literature. Manik Banerjee’s scientific mindset has been identified in the history of the doll.
