The famous Greek writer Sophocles wrote Oedipus the King in 420 BC. This work is also known as Oedipus Tyrannus or Oedipus the Rex. In fact, the play Oedipus is an Oedipus trilogy composed of three plays: Oedipus the King, Oedipus of Cornelius, and Antigone. These three texts tell the story of Oedipus from his appointment as king of Thebes to before the fall of Oedipus and after the tragedy of his children.
