Book Review ::::::…

Written in 1905, The Lighthouse at the End of the World is a novel about survival and vengeance. In the 1850s, the Argentine Navy erected a lighthouse on Isla de los Estados, located at the southern tip of South America, near the Strait of Magellan, which connects the Atlantic and Pacific abysses. Three lighthouse keepers have been left on the islet to cover the world’s vessels from the dangerous and stormy swell that compass the islet. Unknown to them, a group of rovers is also trapped on the islet, led by an evil man named Congre. After killing two of the lighthouse keepers, the remaining man named Vasquez is forced to hide alone in the desert, hoping that the returning boat will come back and deliver him. Especially during a heavy storm, the rovers turn to an American boat and kill everyone on board except First Officer John Davis. Vasquez and Davis teamed up to try to catch the rovers. Verne’s new maquillages a fascinating picture of conspiracy and heroism. You can see the onsets of ultramodern action novels in this little book. Written towards the end of his life, Lighthouse was revised by his son and isn’t considered one of his stylish workshop. I allowed it was a veritably good book that caught my attention. The author specializes in landing the turbulent terrain of an islet at the end of the world.
