This is kind of reread for me since I’ve read the original of this but thought I’d do a little overhaul of this as this is a little different.
I really enjoyed rereading this story in this format. I thought the artwork was absolutely brilliant and the use of color is amazing, especially the use of red everywhere. There is something really powerful in seeing these women dressed in red against this abysmal backdrop. I also really liked how the illustrator drew the Waterfords, as they were very similar to how I imagined them the first time I read this.
The story itself has been shortened a bit, which I totally understand, but I wish it would have had a bit more of the story and a bit longer. I also can’t help but compare it a bit with another visual version of this I’ve seen, the TV series, and I felt there was a lack of diversity in this.
Overall, though, I think this is perfect if you want to reread the book with some awesome artwork!
