The Fault in our Stars “Summary”
Hazel Grace Lancaster has been living with cancer for three of her seventeen years of life. Despite this, she is a girl with a vibrant mind, scathing wit and incredible empathy for the position in which she puts her parents from having to take care of her. His cancer started as thyroid cancer, but it spread to the lungs, which made him need to breathe oxygen from a tank at all times during the day. She attends a support group in a church; there, he meets a friend named Isaac and a romantic interest called Augustus. Augustus has been in remission after losing his leg a few years before, so Hazel hesitates to start a relationship with him, not wanting to hurt him if his illness worsens. She introduces Augustus to her favorite book, and he forms a plan in which they will travel together to Amsterdam (using the “Desire” that gave him a foundation for children with cancer) to meet the lonely and mysterious author and discover what happens. After the end of the book. They can do this trip, but when they get to meet the author, he is drunk and sullen. At the end of the trip, Augustus reveals to Hazel that his cancer has returned and is much worse than last time. They return home and Hazel stays by his side until his death. The author attends the funeral of Augustus and tries to apologize to Hazel; She realizes that her book, which is about a girl with cancer, was based on her daughter who died. Hazel faces the death of Augustus, consoling himself with the strength of his family and a letter about her that Augustus sent to the author before his death.
