Dowry in the general sense refers to the realization of the claim made by the groom to the bride, i.e. dowry is all the movable and immovable property claimed by the groom on behalf of the bride. The Dowry Prohibition Act of 1980 was repealed and a new Dowry Prohibition Act was passed in 2016. By abusing the Dowry Law, a class of women used to harass men by bringing bogus cases in court. Laws are enacted. In addition, there was a demand for the enactment of a new law as smoke was created in the courts on several issues, including the definition of dowry. In this context, the Dowry Prohibition Law was re-enacted in 2016. Putting the 1980 law and the new 2017 law side by side, there are some differences.
