Former Vice President Joseph R. Biden Jr. is said to be both a fortunate man and an inauspicious, fortunate man who sustained a fifty-year political career leading up to the White House, but also faced deep personal losses and disappointments.

It is based on lengthy interviews with Biden and a series of progressive activists, advisors, detractors, and members of the Biden family, including President Barack Obama, Corey Booker, Amy, among others.
The illustration depicts Biden’s long and eventful career in the Senate, his eight years as Obama’s vice president, his mourning in the political wilderness after his passing for Hillary Clinton in 2016, challenging Donald Trump for the presidency His decision, and his choice Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate.
Osnos thinks that Biden will face difficulties when elected and how to weigh it, the political circumstances and changes in the candidate’s thinking have changed these positions. In this fine-grained picture, Biden emerges as flawed, yet resolute, and traumatized by a blaze of tragedy – a man who may be unknowingly suited to his moment in history.
