Book Description :::::…
The purpose of this guide is to serve as a resource guide to assist clients of the International Finance Corporation (IFC) and other companies in establishing effective community development programs for communities affected or affected by their activities. Businesses, communities, governments and NGOs have a role to play in promoting development. Companies acknowledge that it is increasingly difficult to do business without building good relationships with all stakeholders. Good community relationships involve community members in an ongoing conversation and show the community that they will benefit from developing a business. Therefore, promoting community development is the key to good community relations.
Although companies acknowledge that they have a role to play in community development, many have limited experience dealing with complex communities and social issues, especially in developing countries. Many of the examples used in this guide are based on lessons learned from various national companies that have a long history of working closely with neighboring communities. The purpose of this guide is to further the objectives of the IFC.
“Encourage private sector investment in developing countries, which will reduce poverty and improve people’s lives.” It seeks to help interested entrepreneurs using the community development skills of some of the world’s leading companies.
