This paper was recently published in 2006. Since then, many other authors have introduced new books and research articles in the field of English phonetics and phonology. Therefore, in this edition, the textbook of the fourth edition of English Phonetics and Phonology more comprehensively updates the list of additional reading books and adds new ideas. The author has also removed old documents that present views that are no longer relevant from the reference book list.
In fact, the structure of the book remains unchanged, except that the distinctive features have been carried over from Chapter 20 to Chapter 13 and shortened to accommodate the reduced phonetic problems. In this chapter. The author also does not use the term Received Pronunciation (RP) for the stress cases presented in the book and instead uses the term BBC Pronunciation. The accent sections are also better presented and have some more modern ideas on how to analyze intonation. In the hope that this book meets the learning and teaching needs of students and teachers who teach English.
